SPRING CLASSES
Greetings!

ADULT CLASSES
DRAWING AND SKETCHING  with Marlene Bezich
This class will cover different types of papers and drawing techniques. The art of "quick sketch" will be explored as well as many other drawing exercises.  Students will leave this class with an understanding of charcoal and pencil rendering.
Fridays: Time: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

SCULPTURE IN & OUT with Richard Mauro
The class will explore, discuss and create armatures and techniques to suit the student=selected subject. Students will be working in plastilene, self-hardening clay, French wax. Class is suitable for all levels.
Mondays:1 - 3 p.m.
Session A: March 25, April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2013
Fridays: 1 - 3 p.m.
Session B: March 29, April 5, 12, 19, 26, May 3, 2013
 Fee: $100 per session plus materials fee $35
 
ART OF SEWING (BEGINNERS) with Hope Giambalvo
Students will learn the basics of how to operate a sewing machine (such as proper threading, winding a bobbin, how to replace a needle, etc.).  In addition they will learn such skills as pivoting, how to make a French seam, overcasting, and the basics of using a pattern. Material list will be provided. Students should complete several projects by the end of each session.
Wednesdays: Time: 4-6 p.m.
Session B: March 13, 20, 27 April 10, 17, 24

ART OF SEWING (INTERMEDIATE) with Hope Giambalvo
Students will further their knowledge of their machine and pattern use while learning about pleats, darts, buttonholes and gathering. Students should complete several projects by the end of each session
Tuesdays: Time: 4-6 p.m.

QUILTING FOR BEGINNERS with Hope Giambalvo
Students will learn the basic skills for quilting and create a small quilt by session's end.
Tuesdays: Time 6 - 8 PM

CROCHET & KNITTING FOR BEGINNERS with Hope Giambalvo
Students will learn basics of crochet and knitting.
Wednesdays: Time: 6- 8 PM

CHILDREN'S CLASSES
CARTOONING with Michelle Kroog
Learn to draw cartoon characters in the likeness of Warner and Disney. Create and make flip books, a comic strip and posters.
Saturdays: 1-3 p.m.

MUSIC CLASSES
NYSSMA Solo Preparation
with James Cassara 

REGISTER NOW 
Learn how to prepare to perform your NYSSMA instrumental solo with insights provided by a certified All State adjudicator. Learn what specific key signatures, rhythms and instrument range are included in the sight reading exercise. Learn techniques to help you remember your scales. Course fee is completely donated to the Islip Arts Council. Participation in course is no guarantee of NYSSMA results.

GUITAR LESSONS with Dan Lachacz
The perfect class for the absolute beginner. The instructor will introduce and familiarize students 
 with guitar tabulator. Students will learn basic, major, minor and seventh cords
in a fun and relaxed environment. Ages 10+
