A gardeners’ paradise located on 14 scenic riverfront acres in the Peconic basin.

-> Follow Station Rd north for 3.7 mi and turn right at E Patchogue-Yaphank Rd/Sills Rd/Rt-101; after 1.5 mi turn right to merge onto

I-495/LIE East; travel 11.7 mi and take exit 71 for NY-24/Hampton Bays/Calverton; from ramp turn left/north onto NY-24/Edwards

Ave S toward Calverton; after 1/4 mi, turn left onto River Rd; go 1/4 mi west to just before RR tracks, and turn left at green and

yellow sign for Peconic River Herb Farm; follow drive to parking areas.

Art museum in 9-acre park-like setting with gardens, fountain, history museum, carriage museum, historic structures. After painting

we can stay to view the Museum’s show ‘America’s Kitchens’ (open until 5PM); seniors 62 and older may attend a free, self-guided

tour of the exhibition from 10:00AM-12:00NOON. [Museum entry is optional: fee –$9 adults; free to seniors on Tue, $7 other days]

Join us this summer for outdoor sketching and painting inspiration!

In July and August the sketch group meets Tuesdays, 10:00AM to 12:00NOON. We have some exciting new

destinations planned. Carpool when possible, especially where there is a parking fee. Bring art supplies and come

prepared to deal with natural elements: bug/tick repellent, sunscreen, drinking water, a hat and a folding chair are

recommended. [Driving directions are estimated from the intersection of Station Rd (Bellport Ln) & South Country

CR-93, make a sharp left proceeding east down South Main St/Middle Rd; go through one light and continue east, past St Ann’s

Church (on left); before a small bridge, watch for Vineyard sign directing you to turn left onto a dirt road; bear right past Meadow

Croft Estate to parking area.

Country Rd; after Oakdale, take slight left (in Great River) to stay on CR-85/N Main St/S Country Rd which becomes NY-27A West;

follow signs and take slight right onto ramp for Robert Moses State Pkwy South/Ocean Beaches; travel south 3 mi to the Captree

State Park exit; take Ocean State Pkwy E exit toward Captree St Pk and Boat Basin; follow signs and ramp around to right to Boat

Basin. [Note: It is faster and easier to take Sunrise Hwy instead of Montauk Hwy – see directions below.]

Several garden areas, small pond, shore along Connetquot River, manor house, café. Open until 5:00PM. [You cannot eat or bring

beverages onto the grounds. Picnicking possible at nearby Heckscher State Park and Connetquot River State Park.]

-> Go west on South Country Rd; take Montauk Hwy/E Main St/CR-80 West which becomes CR-85, then becomes S Country

Rd; after Oakdale, take slight left (in Great River) to stay on CR-85/N Main St/S Country Rd which becomes NY-27A West; travel

approx1.3 mi to Park entrance on left side of highway.

Preserve has over 70 acres of ecologically oriented landscapes with hiking paths, walkways, labyrinth, sculpture, elds, forests;

connects to Nature Conservancy’s 60-acre East Farm Preserve to the south. Trail maps available in kiosk at Harbor Rd entrance.
