FRIDAY JULY 2nd IN BELLPORT VILLAGE

The Holiday weekend kicks off with several interesting art events in the Village:
a reception at Bellport Arts & Framing Studio for the works of Br. Gerard Cormier, Friday, from 6 - 9 pm at 147 South Country Road- this is also the 2nd anniversary of the Frame shop so Congratulations, Luann!

Over at the Phoenix Gallery Friday night, some of the members of the Glass Guild will have their work on display as a preview to the Craft Guild's exhibit at the Gallery- see works by Julianna Kirk, Lesa O'Connell, Jane Cairns Irvine, and Pamela Jean Hanna. 6 - 9 pm at 139 S Country Rd

The Village Silversmith is featuring the works of Carol Otto, Bellport resident artist.....

The Variety Mart, an old fashioned five and dime, has the Beachscenes of Walt Todd, books on local history, you name it... if you can't find it at Carol's, you probably don't need it!

Many shops will be open late for your perusal, it will be a great nite to stroll thru and visit, check out what Bellport has to offer.... fine dining is available in our wonderful restaurants.

Our newest neighbor is Rosie's Handmade Revolution, on the corner of Station and South Country- dedicated to stimulating creativity in a homey setting, you will find all sorts of handmade items from gifts to desserts!

Feel like shopping? Summer Salt Beach House, Donna Waters and Bellport Jewelers will be open late for your convenience.

On Saturday, discover the works of a very talented artist, Matthew Troyan- who comes alive through an informative talk given by Bob Baker of Circa Something/Go Green Antiques.
Mr. Baker is in the process of writing a book about the work of Troyan and a very special exhibit is in the planning stages--- Contemporary of Pollack and Picasso, the until now undiscovered works of Matthew Troyan will be brought to the public thanks to the efforts of Mr. Baker, et al.

Sunday, the whole town comes out for ARTISTS ON THE LANE, an outdoor art show that attracts fine artists from all over the country- booths are lined up all the way down to the bay and back, with all manner of fine art and photography for sale, as well as fine art sculpture.
Refreshments are available from the Bellport Garden Club, on the grounds of the Historical Society Complex at the Post-Crowell House on Bellport Lane.

"Celebrating Nature" exhibit at Chrysalis Gallery, Southampton

Our own Larry Johnston is one of the four featured artists at Chrysalis Gallery - for the "Celebrating Nature" show

Join us this summer for outdoor sketching and painting inspiration!

In July and August the sketch group meets Tuesdays, 10:00AM to 12:00NOON. We have some exciting new

destinations planned. Carpool when possible, especially where there is a parking fee. Bring art supplies and come

prepared to deal with natural elements: bug/tick repellent, sunscreen, drinking water, a hat and a folding chair are

recommended. [Driving directions are estimated from the intersection of Station Rd (Bellport Ln) & South Country

Overall the comments were positive, there was media coverage, good press and community response, we had about 12 new members join in time to be in the show at the gallery.....
the reception was standing room only and the refreshments were awesome! The work was very fine this year, you all did a great job! Let's keep the ball rolling---
